James Parker

Brother James Parker hails from Philadelphia Pa. He came to Virginia in 1982 to attend Norfolk State University. He pledged spring of 1985 in the Pi Gamma chapter and graduated with a B.S. in Mass Communications. He had aspirations of becoming a sports broadcaster, but worked in radio and TV sales for 10 yrs. In 2003he started his own advertising agency called Omega Marketing LLC where he writes, produces, and directs, radio and TV commercials and places advertising buys for his clients. He oversees hundreds of thousand dollar advertising budgets yearly and helps companies grow into million dollar businesses.

Brother Parker has a passion for helping others in need, especially the elderly. He serves as Marketing Director for the James E. Newby Foundation which is dedicated to educating the Hampton Roads community on how to manage and prevent chronic diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity, and chronic heart related diseases. James Newby (Omega Chapter) was a past Basileus of Lamda Omega Chapter and a prominent physician and business man in Norfolk. Brother is a member of First Baptist South Hill in Chesapeake, where he serves on the Men’s Ministry and is the newly elected president of the Vision Riders a motorcycle ministry.

Brother Parker lives by the bible verse, Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
He is a very active member of the Retention and Reclamation Committee, The Housing Committee, and serves on the district level as a member of the Awards and Recognition Committee. Brother Parker can always be seen working at many of the chapters Social Action events.

But He feels his greatest accomplishment as a brother of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. is becoming the primary care giver of Ms. Hazel Atkins, the 85 year old mother of his line brother Thomas Atkins (Omega Chapter). For Ms. Atkins had no immediate family in the Hampton Roads area when her only son died on September 23rd 2002. Although nervous, and apprehensive he used all of the cardinal principles, Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift to take on this daunting task. With the help of his family and some “Good Bruhs”, they are making Ms. Atkins life as comfortable as possible. Although one son has passed she now has many sons of Omega.

He is married to his wife Lisa, his rock, has one ten year old daughter Sabrina, the love of his life and they reside in Virginia Beach.
